The Karoo Gariep conservancy (8 000 ha)for the karoo Hippo is between Colesberg and Hanover. We are 8 km of the N1 highway and perfect between Cape Town and Johannesburg , also halfway between Upington (Kalahari) and PE ( garden Route) this make us the perfect halfway break in South Africa.
We pay special attention to nature and the outdoors. You can explore the central Karoo using us as a basis, we have the Sea Caw Vally Meander whish connect New Bethesda to Hanover and Colesberg by dirt road. These roads can be enjoyed by car as well as on mountain bike. Tourist friendly establishments are listed and work together in a communal afford.
Our activities include early morning birding drives, horse riding, stargazing from our star deck, hippo drives , Koi etchings , mountain bike trails and more.
There are three lodges on the conservancy to choose from. Mieliefontein , with Ian and Elma , New Holme with P.C. and Marisca ore our self cater lodge Wolmado ( managed by Elma) New Holme and Mieliefontein are 4 star and a pleasure to stay in. We offer good “Plaas kos” (Farm Food) 3 course dinners. The meals are a experience and are recommended.
